Ushuaia – On the Beagle Channel

We took a morning boat trip (not our boat!) out on the Beagle Channel, past sea lion colonies and large flocks of cormorants. The snow-capped mountains surrounding the channel were breathtaking, as were the frigid temperatures! We enjoyed the time on the water, and we also got to take a short hike to amazing views.

The boat captain was able to get us so incredibly close to the sea lions, we felt like we could reach out and touch them. The sea lions seem to be used to this, since they didn’t seem at all disturbed by the approach of the boat.

Yes, they really were that close!
