Ohana Sailing Adventure

Stepping the Mast

After the launch, the next thing to do to get a boat ready to sail is to step the mast. This is done with a large crane at the boat yard. Our mast is a white painted Selden spar with in-mast furling for the mainsail. After the mast is lifted onto the boat, riggers attach and tune the rigging, and then install the sails and control lines. This takes the better part of a day (it took around 6 hours total), and Ted was happily there for the entire process.
